Periodontal Disease
The word periodontal means “around the tooth”. Periodontal disease attacks the gums and the bone that support the teeth. Plaque is a sticky film of food debris, bacteria, and saliva. If plaque is not removed, it turns into calculus (tartar). When plaque and calculus are not removed, they begin to destroy the gums and bone. Periodontal disease is characterized by red, swollen, and bleeding gums.
Four out of five people have periodontal disease and don’t know it! Most people are not aware of it because the disease is usually painless in the early stages.
Not only is it the number one reason for tooth loss, research suggests that there may be a link between periodontal disease and other diseases such as, stroke, bacterial pneumonia, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and increased risk during pregnancy. Researchers are determining if inflammation and bacteria associated with periodontal disease affects these systemic diseases and conditions. Smoking also increases the risk of periodontal disease.
Good oral hygiene, a balanced diet, and regular dental visits can help reduce your risk of developing periodontal disease.

Dr. Liberto is so patient and kind. She is perfect with a teen who is terrified of injections and dental work. Her office staff is warm and welcoming. They remember you and work hard to fit your schedule. Their pricing is better than anywhere I have ever been yet they have a beautiful office and massage chairs in the hygienist rooms. The office is so clean with easy parking. I actually love coming here to get my teeth cleaned and I completely trust Dr. Liberto. An added perk is they text you an hour before your appt to remind you if you have to take an antibiotic before dental work. Awesome all around

I've lived in Tierrasanta since 1998. I discovered Pilar at this dentist office about 5 years ago. She's one of the dental hygienists here and she's a super star. She loves what she does and she loves her patients. It goes without saying that someone who loves what they do and take pride in it makes a huge difference in the experience and the end results. Pilar is quite busy, so it might be difficult to get an appt with her. But this office is very well run so I'm sure that any of the staff and employees would do an excellent job. If you're in the market for a dentist, I would definitely recommend this office.

This dentist's office is wonderful. Rita and Pilar really know how to make my small kids feel comfortable. So much so that they don't even care if I'm in the room anymore while they are getting their teeth cleaned or getting sealants. And I'm completely comfortable not being there watching because I've seen how patient and what a wonderful way they have with kids. Rita and Pilar explain everything they are doing and my kids actually listen and come home trying to brush the right way and worry if they haven't flossed! It's pretty hilarious and fantastic. I've heard so many stories of kids having so much anxiety about going to the dentist, but my kids love this place. The front office is great too. While one is getting their teeth looked at, the front office is really nice to the other ones who are looking at all the books or playing with the toys or mechanical toothbrushes or trying to break into the secret prize bin. Great place. Great hygienists.

I had a lot of work done with Dr liberto and wouldn't change dentists for anything. Rita does fantastic cleanings and does not make you feel like she is going to murder your gums! Lol this place is definitely worth a visit if you need a dentist.
